HOME

Welcome to the Lakewood Environmental Arts Foundation, Inc. 501(c)(3)! We have been operating in the Lakewood neighborhood of Atlanta, Georgia for six years. We have a house and 6 acres located at 69 Schell Rd where we receive thousands of pounds of donated food every week that we distribute to individuals, families, churches and other non-profits in the Greater Atlanta area. Our property is managed by Cassie M., a resident and onsite coordinator, who also corresponds with volunteers, visitors and recipients. Our social media is monitored by Cassie, as well as Cynthia R. We have many weekly volunteers who help us unpack and distribute food, and we have a handful of resident volunteers who help with distribution and maintaining the property, garden and compost.

We are almost always looking for more hands to help with tasks around the property. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Cassie at cassie@leaftrust.net.

FOOD 4 ARTISTS CAMPAIGN

During these trying times, more and more people are searching for ways to compensate for the lack of income and/or access to amenities and food. We are here to help with our Food-4-Artists campaign, which is a food drive program for those in need! Let’s be honest; everyone is an artist in his or her own way. Anyone who can come during our distribution hours is welcome to a portion of the food we have to give.

Every week we collect around twenty thousand pounds of food from local distributors and participants. We store and distribute this food to individuals, families, churches and other non-profits in the Greater Atlanta Area from our walk-in coolers and distribution deck. Individuals and families can come on Wednesdays from 10:30 AM to 4:00 PM to pickup food. Churches, non-profits and organizations can come on Fridays from 12:30 PM to 6:00 PM to pick up bulk orders, but we do request advanced notice for all bulk newcomers so we ensure that those who already rely on our service every week do not suffer.

To make a request to pick up a bulk order, please email Cassie at cassie@leaftrust.net or message us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/leaftrust.

About Us

Lakewood Environmental Arts Foundation, Inc. 501(c)(3) (aka LEAF) was created in May 2014 by E. David Morris of Atlanta, Georgia. David worked for many years with another large non-profit in Atlanta doing food drives weekly, but eventually it dissolved due to inadequate funds and support. David decided to start his own charity to continue the great work, and what better place than Lakewood!

Lakewood neighborhood is one of many “food deserts” in the Atlanta area, and there is a desperate need for assistance providing good, nourishing foods to those who live in and near Lakewood. David has been investing his own money for years with little help from outside sources. He even picked up, delivered and distributed the food for the past 4-5 years using his personal vehicles and trailers. Over time, LEAF evolved and grew into what it is today. Every week new participants and volunteers join us in the effort to provide food to those in need.

Cassie M. started with us about 3 years ago as a resident volunteer, and is now in charge of day-to-day operations; management of the garden, greenhouse, and compost; and coordination of food distribution and volunteers. She has been an integral part of making LEAF what it is today, and we love her for all of the hard work she does every day! There are many other volunteers and residents that deserve credit for their contributions and commitment, and to all of them we say “THANK YOU for your continued support!”
